menu monday

hello. did you have a good monday? i did! i got so much accomplished, and i feel good about that. before we get to my menu for the week, here's a little project i did over the weekend...inspired by this post from becky higgins blog. if you don't read her blog, check it out. she is most inspiring! (thanks susanne for reminding me about her!)

anyway, i had the iron tray from southern living and just spray painted it white and distressed it a little. the black wood candle holder i already had too. the new stuff i got at hobby lobby. i just arranged it on the tray and put some season appropriate items in the glass containers (peppermints and pinecones) and voila! a new centerpiece for our dining table.

and here is my picture of the day today...all of my pantry items after a trip to the grocery store.

after watching nicole richie on "the talk" the other day (do you watch that show? hilarious.) and listening to her talking about the foods she does not give her children, i decided to nix any canned foods and get back to fresh fruits and veggies. i'm not getting crazy and giving my child sugar free vegan cupcakes, but i am making it a point to give her plenty of fruits & veggies and a large variety of foods, especially right now, since she's open to eating most anything. did you think i was never going to post my menu? well here it is...

monday-ham and cheese stuffed chicken breasts, roasted asparagus with parmesan
tuesday-salmon cakes, garlic sauteed spinach, tri color pasta with balsamic dressing
wednesday-ground beef and cheddar casserole, green beans
thursday-beany, cheesey, chicken and zucchini quesadillas
friday-spagetti and meatballs, steamed broccoli
saturday-mushroom, avocado cheeseburgers, waffle fries
sunday-eat out

and lastly, this pic of nana and sadie. this is the face sadie makes now anytime i try to take a picture of her and it really makes me laugh!

  1. Hi there! I love what you did to your new centerpiece on your table. Looks great. Can I ask you how you distressed the look on it? I have a mirror that I want to spray paint black, and then distress a bit, but I am not sure how! Thanks!!

    Also, delicous sounding menu!

  3. Your centerpiece looks even better in person! Love it! Smart Mom---fresh fruits & veggies early---wish I had done that with YOU! That Sadie's face is so cute---it's going to be hard to get pics with open eyes now.
