trip to plano and convention

hi! the past week has been super busy, and i've been too busy "instagramming" to blog...isn't it addictive?!

last sunday, mom, sadie, and i went to plano for a few days. we stayed with susanne, chris, and mckinlee, and had the best time!  shopping, eating, and laughing mainly.
here is sadie belle looking at herself in a mirror at susanne's.
we ate at pei wei one day. yum!
 chopstick talent
she fell asleep on the way to shop so i stayed in the car for awhile while the girls shopped...then i shopped for a bit at j.crew factory. i got the cutest neon pink pencil skirt for $24!
 happy girls
the next day before leaving we went to sam moon's. do you have a sam moon's? it's a jewelry warehouse type store that is completely overwhelming but fun. i scored some cute earrings and bracelets for super cheap.

here are the girls before shopping that day

after a great lunch at paradise bakery, we stopped at velvet bake shop for a sweet treat. i got the red velvet cake bite..so delicious!
after getting home, sadie was happy to be reunited with her magna doodle (she loves it!) and wanted me to take pics of her fantastic artwork ;)

a little blurry but i loved how excited she was to go to her first day of kindermusik. the theme is "creatures in my backyard" and she is loving it.
mike's parents came to town on thursday night, and we all went on friday to our annual bible convention that we have every summer. the theme was "safeguard your heart," and it was SO good! looking forward to going saturday and sunday in the next couple of weeks.

we pack our lunch to eat at the convention center, and sadie looked like such a big girl eating her lunch!
after lunch, we walked around outside to get some sun and let her use up some energy...it didn't quite work, because she fought her afternoon nap for about an hour before passing out on our laps!
i just love coordinating outfits, don't you?!
 sadie belle, poppy, and nana
 3 of us
 sadie and nama (mike's mom)
 and grandpa
we had such a fun visit with them! they took her to the toy store to pick out whatever she wanted, and guess what she chose?
a cute new doll? no.
a coloring book? no.
the jake and the neverland pirates ship. yep. that's my girl.

today was a big day too, because sadie had her interview at the montessori preschool. she did great, and will be starting in ONE MONTH!
my little baby girl going to school. i cannot believe it!
it is only 2 morning a week for 3 hours, but still. this is major for me.

happy monday everyone!

show us your life *bathrooms*

today it's show us your bathrooms at kelly's korner!

this is the view walking into our master bath
mike and i each have our own vanities (which makes for a happy marriage in my opinion ;)
i wanted the vanities from pottery barn, but our fantastic cabinet maker made them for a lot less!
the armoire is custom and holds all of our towels, sheets, and toiletries.
the wall color is comfort grey from sherwin williams.  all of our lighting is from pottery barn.
 mike's side
 my side
and my tiny little bathtub alcove...i love it and spend many nights relaxing here!!
we picked up these cute towel holders at anthropologie
 view of our shower
this is the small powder bath off the kitchen...the wall color is dorian grey
i wanted a really old feel in this bath, so i went with b & w tiles and a vintage looking sink
before i get to sadie's bathroom, i think i missed the week where we showed our kid's rooms, so here is sadie belle's room. the wall behind her bed is a custom pink color, and the rest of the walls are a light pink.  i can never get the lighting right for taking pics in her room, so the colors always look off!  the pom poms are martha stewart, and the wall decal is from etsy. her bunny ottoman is from posh tots (also known as the time out spot!)
the beautiful bedding and pillows were made by my mom with amy butler fabric.
opposite her bed is her dresser, which was my mom's, and mine when we were little. we had it painted aqua-i just love it!

another view with her glider and bookcase
here is sadie's bathroom. i had those mirrors custom made and i think they are so cool.  the countertops in this bath and the master are carrera marble. the wall color is sw repose grey i think.
the bow holder and towel holder wall!
 another view
and our tiny guest bathroom which is at the back of our guest room...it wasn't even supposed to be a bathroom, but when we were building, we said let's add a tiny bath for guests! just enough room for a sink, toilet, and shower. wall color is dorian grey.  shower tiles are cool because they're travertine but subway tile shaped.
opposite wall with one of my favorite pics i've taken at a beach in hilton head, sc.
i hoped you enjoyed looking at our bathrooms! have a great weekend!

menu monday!

don't you love all the fresh fruits and veggies to eat during the summer?
tastes so yum!

i was getting really tired of cooking every single day and trying to think of different things all 3 of us would eat (sadie is not a picky eater but some meals are just not kid friendly), so i came up with a new plan recently, and it's really working for us...
i made a list of all the dinners that we will all eat and that are pretty quick and easy...then when it's time to plan the week's meals, i just pick from my list and don't have to think about it too much.

i also decided to not cook 6 nights a week like i had been doing. so now i make 4 meals (one big enough for leftovers later in the week), and then we either pick up or go out 2 nights.
and i've become okay with the fact that my meals don't have to be "fancy." honestly, it's just too much effort right now.  most evenings i'm so tired by dinnertime that i just want to make something easy and quick, but i still want to provide healthy meals for our family...

so here is my menu plan for this week:
monday- shrimp linguini with spinach and parmesan
tuesday- 4 cheese spaghetti with steamed broccoli
wednesday-mike picks up dinner
thursday- salmon, garlic potatoes, salad
friday-leftover spaghetti
saturday-eat out
sunday- crispy tacos, chips and guac

not anything way out of the ordinary, but still yummy!
i'm curious, do you cook every night? do you make the same meals or switch it up?
