14 weeks

yay for energy!! i finally have some again...although i still sneak a little nap in the afternoon, i'm not overwhelmingly exhausted like i have been. it's 10pm and we just went for a 45 minute walk AND i'm making streusel muffins...so i feel sort of like myself again!

i still feel like my emotions are on overdrive though...maybe that's due to continued surging hormones. oh well!

i just watched the end of the bachelorette. i didn't watch it this season even though i think jillian is such a cutie-i just never got into it. but it seemed like she really loves ed. i hope it works out for them and they actually get married.
i hope you had a good weekend. ours was pretty relaxed. i attempted to make a roast on friday night...it's so funny because as much as i cook and love cooking and attempt hard/challenging recipes, roasts intimidate me! but it turned out pretty good, although my carrots were still crunchy and i had to microwave the potatoes after an HOUR of baking them. hmmm...
saturday, we had the rosas and barcos over and the guys grilled chicken fajitas. they were yum! then we watched dances with wolves on amc...random, huh?!
last night, i seriously needed to get out of the house even though i wasn't really in the mood to, so mike said to get ready and he was taking me to barnes & noble. we read magazines and i got a decaf vanilla latte...just what i needed.
i better go check on my muffins...see ya!

workout

mike and i got up at 6 am this morning to go work out. i have been thinking for weeks that i need to get in a good workout routine so it will be easier to shed the baby pounds after it's born, but i've been feeling nauseous and tired, so it's hard to get motivated when you don't feel your best. but i was inspired by this post ...and figured if this mom with 3 kids can get up early to exercise, i can too! so thanks lauren!

so mike took cooper and henry for their daily walk, then we went to the gym and i walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes and he lifted weights. (he's already been getting a bunch of cardio in because he plays tennis all the time) so by 7:50 this morning, i had eaten breakfast #1, worked out, and was on my way to pick up breakfast #2. (is it wrong to eat a sausage and cheese kolache as a reward for exercising?? i think not)

then i went to wal-mart to pick up a few things...those of you who know me well know that i can't stand wal-mart and try to stay as far away as possible, but at 8 am it wasn't crowded at all and actually kind of nice. or as mike said "all the rednecks are still sleeping off their hangovers that early in the morning." hope that doesn't offend, but it was a pretty funny comment!

on to other subjects, i have been doing some internet shopping (not buying yet) and have found some things i love...

this amy michelle sweet pea diaper bag...isn't it cute and functional?!

and this bertini travel system...saw it while shopping this weekend and it's much cuter in person. love the black and white design. it would be great for a boy or girl.

and i have been searcing for a crib that i love but am having a really hard time finding what i want...well i can find what i want, but refuse to pay $1000 for a baby bed...crazy!
this one is actually affordable and has the look i want but i really want it to be white
and i love th look of this one but it's way too expensive
do you know of any good shops/sites to find a modern crib at a good price?

weekend trip

what a weekend we had! mike and i and mom and les left for san antonio around 1 pm on friday afternoon. we got stuck in austin traffic for forever (don't people work until 5 pm??) it was like rush hour traffic at 2:45 in the afternoon! we finally made it to san antonio and got checked in...we ended up staying at the marriott rivercenter. i wanted to stay at the watermark but it was a little expensive for this trip...still the marriott was NOT cheap, so i was expecting a huge beautiful room. not so. the room was clean but it smelled musty and could barely fit the bed and tv cabinet. oh well! so we went to paesano's to eat dinner. it was fantastic!! wonderful italian food and a great atmosphere, plus we brought our ticket from the hotel concierge and got free dessert. then we walked along the riverwalk but it was so dirty and gross and people everywhere...by 8 pm our group was over san antonio and ready to leave! hehe so mike called a client who's a hotel owner and we got rooms at the staybridge suites in north austin for saturday night. he paid for both of our rooms as a 'congratulations on the baby' present!

so saturday morning we had a wonderful free breakfast at the marriott (omelets, fruit, biscuits, bacon, potatoes) and then went to see an IMAX Deep Sea movie...very very good! then we walked to the Alamo and around the grounds...here are some pics...
beautiful koi in a pond on the alamo grounds

look at the line behind mom and les! it was 1/2 a mile long...no way were we standing in 105 degree heat for an hour to see inside.

you can't see all the plastic cups, leaves, trash floating in the water in this pic!
so then after the Alamo, we headed to NorthStar Mall where every citizen of San Antonio was shopping on Saturday...i was hot, tired of walking, and nearing a panic attack, so mike and i went to the car while mom and les got some lunch. we got in the car and turned on the air on to cool down, then mike noticed little bugs crawling all over the floorboards of les' car. so we both jump out of the car to see what kind of bugs they are...and they were SPIDERS! hundreds of tiny, fast, scary spiders crawling ALL OVER les' car. we started pulling the mats out of the car and trying to kill the spiders but they were so fast! mike said we'd have to bug spray the whole car at which point i said there was no way i was riding from san antonio to austin, pregnant, in a pesticide sprayed vehicle. so being the smart man my hubby is, he said HAIR SPRAY...we'll kill them with hair spray. so he sprayed the whole car with hairspray and we killed around 300 spiders. mom and les came back to the car and we killed more spiders all the way to austin.
then we finally get to austin, arrive at our hotel and mike and les go in to check-in...mike comes back to the car and says you're not gonna want to stay...the power is out! no air or lights. the management assures us that it will be fixed within a couple of hours, so we go eat dinner at Saltgrass and come back, and still no power. we are in the process of getting a room at their sister hotel, when the power comes back on. so we stayed and thankfully our room cooled down very fast, and the hotel was gorgeous! brand new, clean, big rooms, and a little kitchen in each room! sunday we shopped and ate dinner at BJ's and ended our weekend on a great note! but wow...what a weekend!

and finally, here i am at 13 weeks!

our 12 week appt.

(this is the first pic i've seen where i thought...wow i look really pregnant...except for my weekly belly pics, of course)

yesterday morning, we had our 12 week appt. with my doctor...first, can i just say how much i love him! he is just the right combination of informative and funny, serious and laid back...which meshes so well with us!

so he put the little doppler on my stomach and we heard our baby's heartbeat for the first time! i had seen the heartbeat 2 times before, but hadn't heard it yet. wow!! what an experience. it was so strong and steady at 156 beats per minute. mike was so excited to hear it too. then dr. b. answered my long list of questions and we set up the date and time for our 4 month appt.
so we can chill and let this little one grow for 4 more weeks until we go again!

show where you live- foyers and {new loves}

here's my pic of our foyer for kelly's home tour...the grouping of pictures i took on a trip to san fran and napa and got matted frames to put them in. on the entry table are cool shell balls from a friend and my satsuma home fragrance oil from the body shop (the best smell ever) under the table is a huge jar of shells we've bought and collected. on the opposite wall is a wicker basket to put shoes in and you can sort of see the top of the sea grass chair in the pic (chair from pier 1)

on to my friday new loves...where i blog about what stuff i love for the week! found this pic of mike and i several weeks ago and thought it was sweet...

a very important new love is taco tuesday at rosa's cafe!! do you have a rosa's where you live? every tuesday, you can get a 3 tacos, beans, and rice for $3!! and it's good food too, not like fast food mexican. and their queso is delish!
my other love for this week is this cutie dress from anthro...i think it would look adorable with a some black leggings underneath.happy friday!

hot. hot. hot.

i am hot. not like in the 'i look really good' way...in the ' if i have to endure one more 115 degree day, i will literally start to melt' way! why does every summer in texas seem to get hotter and hotter? i asked mike today what state has perfect weather all year? cause that's where i want to move. he said cali or santa fe. hmm... so here's my 11 week picture. sorry i'm so squinty in this one, but it was like the 6th picture mike took, so this is as good as it gets today.
i loved this one of henry...this is so him. he lives for his squeaky toy. it is his whole world!

mike working hard at his laptop. so cute!

and staci and lauren and mom came over tonight for brownies and ice cream. it's staci's last night in texas; tommorrow she's driving back to florida.
we had a fun weekend! we watched confessions of a shopaholic and went to sara and eric's house for a yummy dinner and a game of mad gab.
have a great week!

family lunch

when i was in plano earlier this week, most of our new family met at saltgrass for lunch (minus the husbands) i hadn't met leslie, les' youngest daughter, so it was nice to finally meet her. and the grandkids all get along well, so that's good! they had fun talking and playing.

i got to shop at susanne's wonderful mall, stonebriar, and found so many cute maternity things to wear. the gap has a really cute maternity line. and a pea in the pod has gorgeous stuff but i refuse to pay $88 for a pair of shorts i will wear for about 4 months! so i found a few cutie dresses at motherhood and some casual stuff at old navy too.

it was funny...when i was trying my new stuff on, mckinlee said 'nini, i'm not used to seeing you pregnant.' and i said 'honey, i'm not either!' to have a belly sticking out is such a cool/weird experience...so nice not to have to suck in my stomach! hehe
