what's in your purse?

*sorry if you got my first published post...i wasn't finished and it posted! susanne did this on her blog, so i thought i would play along! let's see what does my purse say about me?
  • i obviously have a baby
  • i like my baby to have plenty of toys to play with (and bows to match outfits)
  • i like to make lists
  • i think it's important to have a matching wallet to my purse
  • i love music
  • lavendar is probably my favorite smell
  • bright nail polish is essential on summer toes
  • i tan in a tanning bed
  • i frequent HEB almost daily

how fun!! why don't you play along?

and here are a couple of recent pics of sadie with mommy and daddy!

hello monday

thank you SO much for your help in deciding which picture to choose...
i finally decided this was the winner! this one and #1 were my favorites!
and in important fitness news, me going to the gym every couple of days was just not working out... making sure i had someone to watch sadie and fitting it into my day was hard, so i decided to order this video and i'm hoping it will help me. there were a bunch of 'body after baby' videos available, but i don't want to try to work out while holding my baby in a sling (no offense to those moms that do)
this one isn't a mommy and baby video, it's just for moms. but it's only 30 minutes so it's realistic that i can do it while sadie's playing or napping.

i was paging through a book this morning "the girlfriend's guide to pregnancy" and at the end, it talks about losing the baby weight. i thought these 5 points were so funny and true:
  • 1. it will take longer than you think.
  • 2. you will have forgotten what you used to look like.
  • 3. you will not get your old figure back until you stop nursing.
  • 4. even when you have lost the pounds, you will have to wait for nature to take her own sweet time about tightening your flabby skin back up and pulling your hips back together again.
  • 5. do not get pregnant until again until you have lost all the weight from the first baby.

and on that note, have a great day!!

three months

she's 3 months old today!!a few things sadie is doing:
  • putting everything in her mouth...her fist, her toys, her burp cloth
  • smiling all the time! she's the only little person i know who ALWAYS wakes up happy
  • kicking her legs and moving her arms constantly
  • trying to sit up. she doesn't even like reclining in her car seat. she wants to be upright!
  • noticing the world around her. it's hard for me to feed her out in public because she's too busy looking at everything.

i knew i would love our baby, but you don't realize just how much you love them until they're born. she is pure delight!

i think she's getting a bit spoiled because we give her SO much attention, she'd rather be talked to and played with than be in her crib by herself. but it's so fun and a little spoiling never hurt anybody right?! :)

here's our family picture for this month!

tommorrow the photographer is coming to do her 3 month pics. i'm so excited! i hope they turn out like i envision them in my head...we're doing black and whites with her on our bed on her tummy in bloomers! i'll let you know how it goes...

life flies by

i'm realizing that a lot more these days. it seems like the weeks just fly and i blink and another weekend is gone!
we had a great day yesterday! it was a mommy and daddy day off so nana came at 12:30 to watch sadie. we tanned and went to the gym to workout. then we had massages and i got a pedicure. soooooo relaxing. then we came back home, got showered and changed and went to
se cocina for dinner. then we went to see the movie date night. in some parts, i laughed til my stomach hurt, but then other parts of it were just tasteless to me.
but it was a fantastic day! thank you nana for all your help!
here we are on the way to dinner sadie loves her rattle and is starting to really hold onto it. this was this morning...

while i cooked this for breakfast. herbed scrambled eggs (from my herb garden), bacon, toast, and coconut yogurt with berries

i was going to feed her right after we ate, but i looked over in the living room and she was sleeping!

sadie is just getting to be such a big girl. she's realized she can sit up, so now she doesn't want to lay around much or even recline in her car seat, she's always trying to sit up. and she talks constantly. she and mike will have conversations after he feeds her, so today during our meeting he was holding her, and she started talking then looked at him like 'why are you being quiet daddy?' too funny!

and she loves to look at books. i'm so thrilled because i adore reading (mike not so much) and i was hoping sadie would too. she was playing in her room this afternoon and i kept hearing her saying all kinds of things. so i went in to check on her and she was 'reading' her book. how cute is that?
she was 12 weeks old yesterday (that was for you susanne! wink wink)
i can't believe it! before long, she'll be crawling and eating baby food!

wednesday thoughts

i love these pictures of sadie and her poppy! she loves him already!

we had summer clothes on yesterday...it's been so perfectly warm and sunshiney here. i love it :)

sadie is still not a huge fan of tummy time, but she's getting so strong and holding her head up more and more. it's so funny because mike can always tell when it's tummy time even if he's across the house...sadie makes this funny whining noise like 'not this again!' haha

other random thoughts...
1. are you watching tori & dean-home sweet hollywood? i love the show and i love them. she makes me laugh cause she's so quirky and animated.
2. my favorite snack as of late is mediterranae coconut yogurt and sliced strawberries. YUM!
3. post pregnancy stomachs are depressing. (and so are post pregnancy thighs)
4. i am making a commitment right here on my blog to lose 10 pounds by july 16th. sadie will be 6 months old and that is more than enough time to lose the weight. i'm going to the gym twice a week and doing crunches and walking some of the other days so now i just have to stop eating so much. more water, water, water!
5. and speaking of food, ha! i'm making green chile enchiladas for tonight. with corn, not flour tortillas. see, less carbs ;)
6. we are in the midst of a backyard project. i'm going to keep the details a surprise. can you guess what we're doing? i can't wait to show you the before and afters!
tootles!

68

we celebrated my grandparents 68th anniversary this weekend! can you believe they've been married that long? that's amazing to me. they were so excited to have all the family at their house, since my grandaddy has been sick, they don't get to go out much. but they were all dressed up and had so much fun! we had brisket, sausage, beans, potato salad, and rolls. and a decorated cake and cheesecake for dessert. a good southern meal!

peggy with sadie belle

i think brett is in love! he played with her and watched her the whole night. she just loves looking at him. it's so cute!

and 4 generations of girls

it was such a great night of good memories!

organization is my middle name

not really, it's elise.
but i do love to be organized.
i love the feeling i get when i have my day planned out, or a drawer cleaned, or my refrigerator with the yogurts in a row all facing the same way (ooh, that sounds a little like 'sleeping with the enemy', i promise i'm not creepy organized)
so in a having a baby, i've lost a lot of the control of my day that i used to love.
that's fine, i'd much rather have the baby than a perfectly planned day.
but, i think it's time to get a little organized.
and after a very productive discussion with susanne this morning, i've decided to take more control of my day. by the time i feed, change, play with, interact, and read to sadie, i'm exhausted! so when she's sleeping, all i want to do is blog surf or watch tv. both of which are fun, but not too productive.
so thanks to susanne's advice, i looked at motivatedmoms.com and have decided to buy and download a yearly schedule. if you haven't looked at this site before, it's fantastic! and attainable, not like clean your entire house in one day, but small tasks i can manage while still taking care of a baby AND having very important free time.
i especially enjoy the "pamper yourself" box to check off in the weekly schedule. i'm all about pampering!!
so i asked mike to pick me up an organizer at target today, and this is what he picked! love the brown and turquoise, and love that he knew i would love it.
in starting to get organized tonight, i threw away TONS of catalogs and magazines that we had laying around the house. have i told you i have a little bit of an online shopping addiction?
well apparently, the more you shop on online, the more catalogs you get in the mail.
i threw away all but a couple of magazines to look at, and i've decided as i get new catalogs/magazines i will put them in my daily read pile and then promptly throw them away when i'm done.

i've also included the Bible in my daily read pile. it's a goal of mine to read some portion of the Bible daily, and i do really good for awhile, then get off track. but in the schedule on motivatedmoms.com, it even has a daily Bible reading section, so i have no excuse to not read it!

i already feel so much better.

and in exciting sadie news, she slept from 10:30pm to 8:30 am last night! what a big girl!
